Terry Allen - Consultant

Terry will be giving a modified version of his talk “Allen’s Nine Rules for Business Turnarounds”. He will slant the talk toward individuals facing the uncertainty of today’s job market and economic environment. Terry has been through the closing of a business which employed 230 people and knows the impact and the emotions that had to be worked through. As CEO, Terry faced the additional burden of having personally guaranteed all of the secured debt for the business, and is dealing with the loss of everything for which he and his family worked for more than 30 years.
Much of Terry’s consulting work now is listening and helping owners work through their own solutions. Terry says that the same principles apply when you are an employee rather than an employee-owner. An outsider can help to provide perspective and a longer-range view of events as they unfold. Terry will communicate some of this to the members of ASM. The format will be casual and, at times, humorous.
To give you a little sense of the slant of the existing program, Allen’s first rule of Turnarounds is the infamous “rule of holes”. (“When you are in a hole, quit digging!”)
