Tech. Tidbits

Windows 7 has been in technology news lately.  It seems to have been fast-tracked following the lack of acceptance for Vista.  No matter your opinion of Vista, Windows 7 promises to be everything people were perhaps expecting from Vista, and were hoping for in the next release.  You can see a list of popular features here, as well as an article from a Windows 7 engineer discussing how Vista came up short and why Windows 7 will not follow in its footsteps.

Regarding Emails and Meeting Invites

I am still only receiving about replies to emails and technical meeting invitations from about 20% of the membership.  Please take the small amount of time and respond by one of the methods available.

—Selecting one of the “yes, no, or maybe” links in the email invitation.

—For Outlook users: Select “Accept, Reject, or Tentative” options within your normal Outlook programs

—Or just shoot me an email to let me know.

When people don’t respond at all it is hard for the board members to have any idea how many members we are reaching.  If we get an attendance of 10 people and only 20 replies out of 110 members it is very difficult to work on making the meetings more beneficial to everyone.  Thanks for helping us out in this.

October Meeting Summary

Michael Sanders and Sarah Leach from Purdue University College of Technology at South Bend discussed this local program as well as gave us a tour of the campus at IUSB.  This was a very worthwhile meeting as it helped to shed some light on the ways that people and businesses in the area are benefiting from the program.
